A Generous Yes: Solemn Profession of Bro. Dominic Pham Dinh Phu, OCD

On September 18, 2025, the chapel of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Aspirancy House in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, was filled with joy and thanksgiving as Bro. Dominic Pham Dinh Phu of the Eucharist, OCD, made his Solemn Profession. The Eucharistic celebration in Vietnamese was presided over by Fr. Francis Nguyen Quach Tien, OCD, 4th Provincial Councilor and one of the formators at the Aspirancy House. The Rite of Solemn Profession in English was officiated by Fr. Reynaldo V. Sotelo, Jr., OCD, Provincial Superior of the Philippine Province of St. Teresa of Jesus.

The celebration brought together family members, relatives, and friends of Bro. Dominic, along with our Carmelite friars from Vietnam and the Philippines, all united in prayer and thanksgiving for this grace-filled event.

The Discalced Carmelite Order in the Philippines and Vietnam rejoices in welcoming another valiant and generous soul who has fully responded to God’s call to religious life. The solemn vows are not only a profound act of consecration but also a source of joy for the entire Carmelite family, for in every solemn profession the Lord grants the Order a renewed witness of fidelity and love.

Embarking on this journey as a Discalced Carmelite Friar is never an easy path, yet Christ Himself sustains and strengthens those whom He has chosen for His service in the Church. With confidence in His grace, we continue to journey with our dearest brother Dominic, assured of our prayers as he embraces the new challenges of life as a solemnly professed friar.

“May the Lord who has begun this good work in you bring it to fulfillment.”
